Four-star wide receiver Dillon Alfred, who played a key role in Gautier football program’s best season in over two decades, has announced his decision to transfer to Saraland High School in Alabama. Saraland, the defending 6A State champions, are led by former Southern Miss Quarterback Jeff Kelly. The junior receiver had an outstanding 2022 season, recording 57 receptions for almost 1,200 yards and 15 touchdowns, grabbing the attention of college scouts.
Considered the second-ranked receiver in Mississippi for the class of 2025 by ESPN, Alfred has already received offers from Power 5 schools including Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Auburn, Arkansas, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Penn State. At Saraland, he will join an explosive offense featuring four-star Texas commit K.J. Lacey at quarterback and five-star Alabama commit Ryan Williams at wide receiver.
Gautier, on the other hand, will have a revamped offense in 2023 after the departure of All-American Quarterback Kaden Irving and top receiver A.J. Phillips. Reflecting on his time at Gautier, Alfred expressed his gratitude to the coaching staff, former teammates, and everyone who has supported him in his football journey thus far.
