Delhi: Special Cell Busts Interstate Fake Currency Cartel, Three Held

New Delhi, January 2 – The Delhi Police special cell has successfully apprehended three key members of an interstate Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) cartel. The individuals arrested were identified as Asif Ali, Danish Ali, and Sartaj Khan, who have allegedly been involved in the printing and distribution of counterfeit currency for the past five years.

Acting on specific information, the Delhi Police set a trap near Akshardham Metro Station, resulting in the interception and apprehension of the suspects. During the operation on December 30, a brief scuffle occurred, leading to the recovery of fake Indian currency notes worth Rs 50,00,000 in the denomination of 500.

Deputy Commissioner of the Special Cell, HGS Dhaliwal, stated, A trap was set at Noida Link Road, near Akshardham Metro Station, resulting in the interception and apprehension of Asif Ali, Danish Ali, and Sartaj Khan.

Further investigations revealed that the accused operated an elaborate counterfeit currency printing setup in Sahaswan, Badaun, Uttar Pradesh. The police confiscated a comprehensive range of equipment, including raw materials, high-quality laptops, and printers, from their hideout.

The initial investigation into Asif Ali, aged 27, revealed that he initially pursued work in the field of Unani medicine but turned to the illicit printing of FICN due to financial challenges. Asif collaborated with Sartaj Khan and Danish Ali to carry out their illegal activities.

Regarding Danish Ali, aged 24, the police explained that he played a crucial role in procuring raw materials and arranging the secret hideout for the counterfeit currency printing setup. His involvement was facilitated through his friendship with Asif.

Sartaj Khan, aged 25, operated the computer systems used for the printing of FICN. Initially, he conducted these operations in his own CSC shop before joining forces with Asif and Danish to rent a separate location in Sahaswan.

The police have registered a case against the accused under the relevant provisions of the law at the Special Cell police station in Delhi. The arrested individuals are currently in police custody for further questioning.

The successful bust of the interstate fake currency cartel has dealt a significant blow to counterfeit currency operations in Delhi and surrounding areas. The recovered equipment and evidence will aid in further investigations and help dismantle the entire network involved in this illegal enterprise.

The Delhi Police continue their efforts to curb illegal activities and maintain law and order in the city. With ongoing investigations, it is expected that more information will come to light regarding the scale and extent of the counterfeit currency network.

The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or individuals related to counterfeit currency operations. Public cooperation is essential in ensuring a safer and fraud-free environment.

While the investigation progresses, it serves as a reminder of the constant need for law enforcement agencies to stay vigilant against such criminal activities. The crackdown on the interstate fake currency cartel sends a strong message that the Delhi Police will not tolerate counterfeit currency operations within their jurisdiction.

The Delhi Police’s dedicated efforts to dismantle this illegal network stand as a testament to their commitment to maintaining peace and security in the national capital.

As the investigation unfolds, it is hoped that the Delhi Police’s actions will serve as a deterrent to those involved in illicit activities and pave the way for a safer and more secure society.

Note: The investigation into the case is ongoing, and more information is expected to emerge as the process continues.
