Throughout the day, 29 combat clashes have been reported on the front lines in Ukraine, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces. The Air Force of Ukraine launched four strikes on the areas where Russian personnel were concentrated, destroying a Kh-59 guided missile. Ukrainian missile forces also hit one enemy command post, one ammunition depot, and one artillery unit. In response, the enemy conducted 6 missile attacks, 40 airstrikes, and 21 MLRS attacks on Ukrainian positions and populated areas. These attacks resulted in casualties among the civilian population and significant damage to residential buildings and civilian infrastructure.

Overall, the operational situation in the east and south of Ukraine remains difficult. In the Volyn and Polissia directions, the situation has not changed significantly. The enemy maintains a military presence in the Sivershchyna and Slobozhanshchyna sectors, engaging in active subversive activities to hinder the movement of Ukrainian troops. Additionally, they are increasing the density of mine and explosive barriers along the state border. About 20 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar attacks in these regions.

In the Kupiansk sector, the Defense Forces repelled two attacks near Synkivka and Ivanivka in the Kharkiv region. There was also an airstrike in the Berestove district. Approximately 10 settlements, including Synkivka, Petropavlivka, Ivanivka, and Tabaivka, came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled three enemy attacks east of Terny in the Donetsk region. These attacks affected more than 10 settlements, including Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region, and Terny, Yampolivka, Verkhniokamianske, Spirne, and Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region.

The Defense Forces in the Bakhmut direction successfully defended against an enemy attack near Andriivka in the Donetsk region. The enemy also launched an airstrike in the area of Druzhba settlement. More than 10 settlements were subjected to enemy artillery and mortar attacks.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled five enemy attacks in Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, and Nevelske in the Donetsk region. Approximately 15 settlements, including Novokalynove, Novobakhmutivka, Berdychi, Avdiivka, Severne, and Pervomaiske, came under enemy artillery and mortar shelling.

The Defense Forces in the Marinka sector continue to hold back the enemy in Marinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, successfully defending against enemy attempts to break through Ukrainian defense lines. The enemy launched airstrikes near Krasnohorivka and Heorhiivka, and these settlements, along with Novomykhailivka and Kostyantynivka, came under enemy artillery and mortar fire.

In the Shakhtarske sector, the enemy did not conduct offensive actions but shelled more than 10 settlements, including Vuhledar, Zolota Nyva, Urozhaine, and Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region, with artillery and mortars.

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled an enemy attack west of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region. More than 15 settlements came under enemy artillery and mortar attacks.

The Kherson region was not spared, as Kherson itself, along with Dmytrivka and Ochakiv in the Mykolaiv region, were subjected to artillery shelling. Airstrikes targeted Respublikanets, Chervonyi Mayak, Zmiivka, and Krynka settlements in the Kherson region.

Despite the enemy’s relentless assault, the General Staff emphasized that Ukrainian soldiers continue to hold their positions and inflict significant losses on the invaders. Additionally, on January 7, Ukraine’s air defense forces successfully destroyed 21 out of 28 combat UAVs.

The situation on the front lines in Ukraine remains volatile, with ongoing clashes, casualties, and significant damage to civilian infrastructure. The international community closely watches the developments, hoping for a peaceful resolution to the conflict and the protection of innocent lives caught in the crossfire.
