According to the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), the turnover of Khadi and Village Industries products has increased by 17% to Rs 1,34,630 crore in the fiscal year 2022-23. This is up from Rs 1,15,415.22 crore in the previous year. The KVIC stated that the turnover was only Rs 31,154 crore in the year 2013-14, marking a significant increase in the industry. The organization has also created 9,54,899 new jobs in rural areas.
Sales of Khadi and Village Industry (KVI) products reached their highest ever level of Rs 1,34,630 crore in 2022-23, with production seeing a total of Rs 95,957 crore. The KVIC said that the demand for organic clothes has increased significantly all over the world after the Covid-19 pandemic. As a result, they have seen a surge in demand for Khadi garments. Over the last nine financial years, there has been an unprecedented growth of 332% in the sale of indigenous Khadi products created by rural artisans.
