Two people have tragically died in an RV fire that broke out in Fresno County, with investigations currently underway to determine the cause of the incident. The fire occurred early Saturday morning at the Friant Trailer Park, located near Millerton Lake. The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and CalFire rushed to the scene after receiving numerous calls reporting the flames engulfing the RV and posing a threat to nearby structures.
According to Fresno County Sheriff Deputy Alan Kelzer, upon arrival, they discovered one person deceased, and while they were still at the scene, they uncovered a second deceased individual. The victims’ identities have been established, but their names will not be released to the public until their families have been notified. Authorities are diligently working to determine the origin of the fire.
Deputy Alan Kelzer explained, Fire crew members did locate a space heater in the front part of the RV, and that is where the initial fire started. This discovery has prompted warnings regarding the potential dangers associated with space heaters. While they provide much-needed warmth, experts advise plugging heaters directly into wall outlets instead of using extension cords or power strips. Additionally, it’s crucial to maintain at least three feet of clearance around the heater to prevent accidents.
The tragic RV fire had devastating consequences, emphasizing the importance of safety measures when using heating equipment. As investigations into the cause continue, authorities are urging everyone to exercise caution in order to prevent further accidents. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families and loved ones of the victims during this difficult time.
