Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district have arrested two associates of a terror group. Touseef Bhat of Shetipora Bijbehara and Abrar-ul-Haq of Arwani Bijbehara were arrested by a joint team of the army, CRPF, and local police in the region. Authorities have reported that ammunition, as well as Rs 1 lakh in cash, were recovered from the suspects’ possession. The duo has been charged under the appropriate sections of the law. The seizure reportedly included 12 AK-47 rounds and a hand grenade.
The arrests are significant and come in the midst of heightened security measures in India. Authorities are on the lookout for terrorist activity and groups that could disrupt peace in the region. The authorities have not yet issued a statement about the group the suspects were allegedly associated with.
The timely action by the joint military and police team was vital in preventing possible attacks. The arrests come as a major win for the country’s counter-terrorism efforts. With the world still grappling with the Covid-19 pandemic, terrorist attacks could have devastating effects on the region.
The situation in Kashmir has always been complex, with separatists and terrorist groups seeking to undermine the area’s peace and stability. The government is increasingly focused on countering these threats and maintaining law and order in the region.
Authorities continue to be vigilant and work toward ensuring the safety of all citizens. It remains to be seen how effective these measures will be in ensuring a peaceful environment in the region. For the moment, people welcome the joint efforts of law enforcement agencies and military units, who are working tirelessly to maintain national security.
