According to a press release from the Inspectorate General of the Romanian Police (IGPR), a series of operations were conducted from December 8-12 to dismantle criminal groups involved in human and drug trafficking. A total of 35 actions were carried out, resulting in significant success for law enforcement agencies.
During the operations, a total of 185 house searches were conducted, leading to the identification of over 94 individuals involved in criminal activities. To ensure their prosecution, 61 detention orders, 35 preventive arrest warrants, and one house arrest warrant were issued.
In addition to the arrests, 18 individuals were placed under judicial control to prevent any further involvement in criminal activities.
The operations also yielded substantial seizures of illicit substances and items associated with criminal activities. Approximately 15 kilograms of cannabis, 3.7 kilograms of other drugs, 43 grams and 13 doses of cocaine, and 4 cannabis plants were discovered and seized. Furthermore, law enforcement authorities confiscated 9,440 various tablets, 6 grinders, 17 scales, 9,010,000 cigarettes, and 900 liters of alcohol.
The authorities also seized significant assets related to the criminal groups. A car, 155 mobile phones, 27 laptops, 38 SIM cards, 113 storage media, three non-lethal weapons, one lethal weapon, 116 pieces of ammunition, 1,819,485 lei, 83,230 euros, 4,280 pounds, and 4,000 other currencies were confiscated.
These successful operations not only dismantled criminal networks involved in human and drug trafficking but also disrupted their means of operation by seizing their assets and preventing future criminal activities.
