18-year-old charged in Manchester college stabbing incident, UK

An 18-year-old has been charged in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred outside a college in east Manchester. The incident took place on Monday afternoon near the Manchester College campus on Ashton Old Road, Openshaw. Two 16-year-old boys were wounded in the attack and were taken to the hospital for treatment. Thankfully, their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The accused individual, identified as Dru Patel from Audenshaw, has been charged with two counts of Section 18 wounding and possession of an offensive weapon.

Following the incident, extra patrols have been deployed in the area to ensure the safety of the community. Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Davies mentioned that this appears to be an isolated incident, but the police will carry out thorough investigations. In his statement, he emphasized the seriousness of the attack, as both victims sustained serious injuries and had to be hospitalized. The accused individual has been remanded and is scheduled to appear at Manchester Crown Court on Friday, December 15. The authorities are committed to providing a safe environment for the residents and students in the area, and hence, extra security measures have been put in place.
