Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his grief over the tragic road accident that claimed the lives of 12 people in an Odisha wedding party. The accident occurred in Ganjam district, where a bus carrying 12 passengers collided head-on with another vehicle. Seven passengers sustained severe injuries and were taken to the nearest hospital. Shah took to Twitter to share his condolences and sympathy with the victims’ families. He prayed that God grants them the strength to hold on through the tough times and also wished the injured passengers a speedy recovery.

The accident is a tragic reminder of how negligent driving and poor road conditions can claim precious lives in a matter of seconds. Reports suggest that buses and trucks in India are involved in accidents almost every day, resulting in the loss of thousands of lives every year. The government claims to have taken several measures to improve road safety, but the ground reality is far from satisfactory. Road safety must be given high priority, and stricter laws must be enforced to punish offenders who violate traffic laws.

The tragedy calls for a serious reconsideration of how road safety can be improved in India, particularly for public transport buses. This includes strengthening the infrastructure, imposing fines on drivers who break traffic laws, and conducting mandatory refresher courses for drivers on road safety. The Government needs to make it a national priority to provide safe and reliable transportation for all. It is a time for the government to act, and it cannot afford to make mistakes in this regard.

Lastly, we would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident, and we pray for a speedy and full recovery of those who sustained injuries. The loss of innocent lives is a tragic reminder of how important it is to prioritize road safety in India. The government must take immediate action to prevent such accidents from happening in the future.
