India aims to create 150,000 new green jobs by achieving its clean energy goals through wind energy production. However, lack of skills and a strong policy framework pose challenges.

India's wind industry needs four key measures to progress, according to the Wind Independent Power Producers Association. The group's President called on authorities to introduce an effective bidding plan, ISTS open access, settle missing payment surcharges faster, and facilitate offshore wind bids. To promote wind energy, WIPPA and India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy will host an awareness event on Sunday before Global Wind Day on 15 June. India aimed to add 60 GW of capacity by 2022 but managed only 43.198 GW, per official data.
