The Himachal Pradesh government has sparked outrage amongst medical and veterinary associations with their announcement that no Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) will be given to newly hired health and family welfare, medical education, dental, Ayush and Animal Husbandry department employees. The associations have called the decision "anti-people" and are demanding that the notification be pulled back. Doctors, who put their lives in danger during the COVID-19 pandemic, are subjected to different duties from others and have been demanding the NPA allowance be increased. The veterinary officers association has spoken out against this decision, demanding it be retracted, as it is bad for the interests of farmers.
