The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) is expected to increase its key interest rate to 4.35% by September, says a recent poll. Despite falling inflation, the RBA has resumed tightening in order to manage inflation. 20 out of 26 economists predict a 25 basis point hike by September, with remaining six forecasting it to stay at 4.10%. While the next meeting in July is likely to maintain policy, markets have priced in a hike. A slowing economy is expected to stagnate home prices this year but Covid-19 savings and a tight labor market are keeping the interest rate-sensitive housing market resilient.
