Chhattisgarh coal scam: ED files complaints against businessmen and officials for extorting levies on coal and iron pellets. More significant details are expected to be exposed as the Special Court in Raipur has taken cognizance of the prosecution complaints. Over Rs 220 crore worth of assets have been attached, and nine individuals, including the Deputy Secretary and an IAS officer, have been arrested during the money laundering investigation. The proceeds of crime are allegedly used for political expenditure, creation of benami assets, and bribing officials.
