US Carries Out Strikes on Iranian-Backed Militant Facilities in Syria
In response to a series of attacks on American troops in Iraq and Syria, the US military has conducted strikes on facilities linked to Iranian-backed militant groups in eastern Syria. While the Pentagon confirmed that all injured service members returned to duty after experiencing minor injuries or traumatic brain injuries, an American civilian contractor tragically passed away due to cardiac arrest during one of the attacks.
To address the threats posed by Iranian-supported militant groups, the US maintains a presence on several bases equipped with countermeasures against rocket and drone attacks. The US has previously responded to such attacks with targeted airstrikes, including in March.
