University Student Fatally Stabbed at Planet Fitness, Suspect Claims Self-Defense
A tragic incident occurred at a Planet Fitness near Valparaiso University, where a 29-year-old university student, Varun Raj Pucha, was fatally stabbed in the head. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Pucha sadly succumbed to his injuries, leaving the community in shock and grief.
The suspect in this case has been identified as 24-year-old Jordan Andrade. According to Andrade, he had never spoken to the victim before the attack. However, he claimed that someone had informed him that Pucha was planning to harm him. This alleged information led Andrade to believe that he acted in self-defense.

Andrade appeared in court and now faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery. A bond of half a million dollars cash and the same amount in surety has been set. To ensure the safety of the community, the judge ordered Andrade to undergo pretrial monitoring, including wearing an ankle monitor and reporting in person weekly if he manages to post bond.
