Community of Troutdale Mourns Loss of Family Killed in Tragic Car Accident

On October 12, Gary Rutledge, Michelle Jean Windsor Rutledge, Ryan Rutledge, and Kate Rutledge were traveling on Highway 97 in Deschutes County when a northbound driver crossed the middle lane and collided with another vehicle before striking the Rutledge family’s car head-on. The immense tragedy of losing the entire family at once has left the community grappling with grief and disbelief.
Neighbors fondly remember Gary and Michelle as pillars of the neighborhood and exceptional parents to their children. Katie, one of their children, had a passion for theater and had even designed a costume for an upcoming school play.
