Sivakumar owns a 190-acre tea estate along with vegetable and flower gardens in Kotagiri. For the past two decades, 627 employees have been working diligently on the estate. Previously, Sivakumar used to gift household appliances and cash bonuses to his employees. However, he decided to go the extra mile this year and surprise them with bikes worth over Rs 2 lakh as a token of appreciation for their invaluable contribution.
The generous tea estate owner gifted 15 Royal Enfield bikes to his employees, including the manager, supervisor, storekeeper, cashier, field staff, and drivers. Sivakumar expressed his gratitude to the employees for their immense role in the growth of his tea estate. He mentioned that in previous years, he had given them electronic appliances, but this time he wanted to give them something special.
Apart from the bikes, a few workers also received LCD TVs, and all employees were given an 18 percent bonus ahead of the festive season. Furthermore, Sivakumar appointed two teachers in the Nedugula Panchayat Primary School to cater to the educational needs of the workers’ children who wished to attend English medium schools. This move has revived the school, which was on the brink of closure, and it now has 320 students, with 80 of them being from the tea estate. Additionally, Sivakumar runs a pharmacy where workers receive free medicines.
A video capturing the heartwarming moment of tea estate workers being presented with the bikes has circulated online, showcasing Sivakumar’s act of appreciation.
This extraordinary gesture has not only brought joy to the employees but has also set an outstanding example of valuing and acknowledging dedicated workers. Sivakumar’s appreciation for his workforce and commitment to their welfare has shown the importance of fostering a positive work environment.
As the festival of lights, Diwali, approaches, this heartwarming story serves as a reminder of the true spirit of the festival – spreading happiness, gratitude, and love. It is gestures like these that make Diwali truly special and memorable for all.
