Updated: 1:49 AM, Wed November 15, 2023

A Houston mother was tragically shot and killed in her car while her 3-year-old son witnessed the horrifying incident. The suspect in this heinous crime is now in custody.

The accused, Dominique Menefee, 30, appeared in court and is facing charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The Houston Police Department revealed that two months ago, Menefee shot 34-year-old Sherniqua Danny B Banks while she was driving in Houston.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they discovered Banks fatally shot in the driver’s seat, while her young son remained unharmed in the backseat. Fortunately, despite also being shot, a 41-year-old passenger survived the attack.

Banks’ family spoke to local news following the incident, describing her as a versatile individual who had recently embarked on a food truck business as her latest passion project. Banks had just finished a catering event and was on her way to pick up her son from daycare before parking her truck near where the shooting occurred.

According to Michael Callaway, Banks’ uncle, as she was driving away from the truck’s location, another car approached and began firing shots at random. Witnesses reported that after the suspect fired into the victims’ vehicle, his tire blew out upon hitting a curb.

Houston Police Department detained two individuals after discovering a nearby vehicle with matching damage. However, those individuals were subsequently released without charges. It is believed that the third individual, Menefee, fled the scene on foot before officers arrived.

This tragic incident has left the community in shock and mourning the loss of a young mother taken far too soon. The investigation is ongoing as the authorities work to bring justice for Banks and her family.

In conclusion, this heartbreaking news highlights the devastating consequences of senseless violence. As the community grapples with this loss, it is crucial that those responsible are held accountable for their actions. Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of Sherniqua Danny B Banks during this difficult time.
