The Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board has recently revealed the winners of its 2023 awards. These remarkable individuals will be recognized at the annual recognition luncheon, taking place on September 15th at the Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center.
The recipients of these prestigious awards have been nominated by the residents of Mahoning County for their exceptional contributions to the board’s system of care. The final selection was made by the mental health and recovery board staff. Duane Piccirilli, the executive director of the board, expressed his pleasure in acknowledging the outstanding winners, stating that they represent the true heroes and champions within their system.
The winners are as follows:
– Advocate of the Year: Adam Lonardo from Broadway Recovery Services.
– CIT Officer of the Year: Deputy Candy Dykes from the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office.
– Eagle Award: Bob Smrek and the Teddy Foltz Memorial Bike Run Committee.
– Front Line Staff of the Year: Douglas Hansen Jr. from Community Support Network.
– Front Line Staff of the Year: Michelle Mixon from Catholic Charities Regional Agency.
– Leader of the Year Award: Theresa Gaetano, chief investigator at the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office.
– Program of the Year Award: Mahoning County Probate Court Fresh Start Court, led by Judge Robert N. Rusu Jr.
– Support Staff of the Year: Lauren Cash from COMPASS Family & Community Services.
