In an embarrassing revelation for the Congress-led government in Karnataka, a video has emerged showing Agriculture Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy criticizing guarantee schemes as mere gimmicks to win elections.
The video, said to have been filmed before the elections, shows the Minister saying that during elections, winning power is the primary goal and that such schemes are used to secure votes. However, his colleague, Karnataka PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi, sought to downplay the comments, saying that guarantee schemes have been implemented within 15 days of coming to power. Despite the clarification, the contents of the video have caused headaches for the Congress government.
