Hamas Launches Operation al-Aqsa Storm, Rockets Fired into Israeli-Occupied Cities
In a significant escalation of the conflict between Hamas and Israel, the Palestinian group has launched Operation al-Aqsa Storm, its largest operation in years. Rockets were fired into Israeli-occupied cities by Palestinian fighters, following their infiltration into these areas from the Gaza Strip.
During a televised speech on Saturday, Ismail Haniyeh, a top Hamas official, expressed confidence and proclaimed that they were on the verge of a major victory. He declared that the battle had reached the heart of the Zionist entity and urged Palestinians to complete the cycles of uprisings and revolutions in their battle to liberate their land and prisoners from Israeli occupation.
Haniyeh also warned Arab countries that have recently normalized their relations with Israel, emphasizing that the occupying regime cannot provide them with security. He asserted that all the normalization agreements signed with Israel cannot resolve the Palestinian conflict.
Earlier in the day, Hamas resistance fighters broke through the fences separating Gaza and the illegally occupied territories, infiltrating various towns and settlements. A heavy barrage of rockets was launched from the Gaza Strip. Hamas announced that more than 7,000 rockets were fired into Israel as part of Operation al-Aqsa Storm.
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad resistance movement also declared its fighters’ involvement in the operation, while Hamas called on Palestinians across the world to join the fight. They also urged resistance groups in Lebanon to support the fighting against Israel.
This operation comes in response to Israeli forces’ attack on hundreds of Palestinians attending a funeral procession in the occupied West Bank, where over 50 people were injured.
According to Israeli media, the large-scale operation has resulted in the deaths of at least 200 Israelis and left over 1,100 injured.
Abu Ubaida, the spokesman for al-Qassam Brigades, the military arm of Hamas, has stated that Operation al-Aqsa Storm is currently in its initial stage.
As tensions continue to rise, it remains crucial to maintain a balanced view and consider the perspectives of both sides. The situation is evolving rapidly, and the global community closely monitors the developments and their potential impact on regional stability.
