Thousands of mourners gathered in the Euphrates region to bid farewell to six individuals who tragically lost their lives in the latest series of Turkish attacks on North-East Syria. The solemn funeral ceremony took place in the city of Kobanê, situated in the Euphrates Region, where grief and anger permeated the air.

The Şehid Dicle Cemetery of Martyrs became the backdrop for the final farewell to Gêlo Şêx, Huzeyfe Hiso, Ebdurehman Hecî, Îsamîl Xelî, Ebdurehman Nasan, and Manbij Military Council fighter Ebû Ebûd (Îsa Casim). Thousands of mourners, hailing from the Euphrates region, gathered to pay their respects and honor the fallen heroes. In the face of heart-wrenching loss, the resilience and unity of the community shone through.

Suad Dumer, a member of the Kongra Star Euphrates Region Coordination, spoke at the ceremony and emphasized the Turkish state’s relentless pursuit to stifle the people’s desire for freedom. Dumer stated, The 9th of October marks the anniversary of the beginning of the international conspiracy against Leader Abdullah Öcalan. This conspiracy aimed to crush the will of libertarian people. The population in the region are marching to freedom and making great achievements with the ideas and philosophy of Leader Abdullah Öcalan. The invading Turkish state wants to kill us, but we will never surrender.

Ebduselam Mistefa, a member of the TEV-DEM Council in the Euphrates Region, addressed the mourners, highlighting the Turkish state’s targeting of civilian settlements. Mistefa expressed that these attacks stem from the Turkish government’s inability to tolerate the remarkable accomplishments made by the people and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in North-East Syria, based on the democratic nation project. Strongly vowing to resist any occupation plans, Mistefa stressed the importance of preserving their hard-earned achievements.

As the martyrs were laid to rest, their deaths served as a painful reminder of the ongoing struggles faced by the people of North-East Syria. In the midst of tragedy, their undying spirit and determination to defend their lands were evident. With each fallen hero, the resolve to reclaim their freedom and the emancipation of occupied territories grew stronger.

The funeral ceremony in Kobanê brought together multitudes of grieving individuals who united in their commitment to honor the fallen and their aspirations for a better future. As resistance against Turkish attacks on North-East Syria continues to grow, the world watches as a resilient community stands undeterred, determined to defend their rights and strive for liberation.
