Fifth Accomplice Arrested in Delhi Murder Case, Revealing Shocking Details
Delhi Police Crime Branch has made another breakthrough in the murder case of an Amazon senior manager, as they have arrested a fifth accused connected to the notorious Maya gang. The official confirmed the arrest of Adnan, also known as Don, on Saturday.
Earlier in the investigation, two other members of the gang, Sohail (alias Bawarchi) and Jubair (alias Kasawra), were apprehended while attempting to flee to Punjab. Another gang member, Bilal Gani (alias Mallu), was captured near Signature Bridge, and Mohd Sameer (alias Maya) was arrested by the Special Cell and handed over to local police.
The incident, which occurred in the Bhajanpura area of Delhi, involved the fatal shooting of Amazon senior manager Harpreet Gill and the injuring of his relative, Govind Singh, during a road rage incident on Tuesday night. Fortunately, Singh is now recovering from a gunshot wound to his head and has been discharged from the hospital.
According to Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Singh Yadav, the gang of young criminals, predominantly active in North-Eastern parts of Delhi, had a propensity for firing at innocent people to assert their dominance in the area. The gang members aimed to gain notoriety in the eyes of the desperate Lawrence Bishnoi Gang.
Disturbingly, the gang would broadcast live on Instagram to boast about their future crime plans even before committing the acts. Their Instagram accounts featured the criminal code numbers 302 and 307, pertaining to murder and attempted murder in the Indian Penal Code. The gang drew inspiration from the negative film character Maya Bhai from the Bollywood movie ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala.’
The Special CP highlighted a previous arrest made by the Crime Branch in February this year, involving a 17-year-old juvenile associated with the Maya Gang. The juvenile was wanted in four criminal cases, including attempted murder, robbery, and dacoity, and was found in possession of a stolen scooter.
The most recent arrest, Adnan, aged 23 and residing in Subhash Mohalla, Bhajanpura, was apprehended from Sadar Bazar. Police investigations have revealed that the fatal incident took place at 11:37 p.m. on Tuesday in Bhajanpura, with the PCR call received at 11:53 p.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered that Harpreet and Govind had been intercepted by five assailants riding a scooter and a motorcycle near Gali No. 8/4. These assailants opened fire without provocation before quickly fleeing from the area.
Harpreet, who had recently received a promotion at Amazon and was due to relocate to Benglauru, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital. Govind also sustained a bullet wound and was referred to LNJP Hospital for further treatment.
During questioning, Bilal disclosed that he and his four friends, Maya, Sohail, Junaid, and Adnan, were spending time at Maya’s house before deciding to go for a ride, with Maya carrying a pistol. As they navigated through the narrow lanes of Bhajanpura, tensions arose when Harpreet and Govind crossed paths with the group.
Both parties refused to yield, resulting in a heated confrontation. Bilal and his associates acted aggressively, with Junaid getting off the two-wheeler to assault Govind. When Govind and Harpreet attempted to defend themselves, Maya fired shots from close range, injuring both victims.
The arrest of a fifth accomplice sheds further light on the shocking murder case. As the investigation progresses, the Delhi Police Crime Branch remains determined to bring all those involved to justice.
