The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) issued a stern warning to individuals involved in tampering with revoked land within the capital, threatening prosecutions for those found guilty. The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, approved the revocation of several plots due to non-development and continuous violation of the Land Use Act. Officials from the Development Control Department, led by Director Muktar Galadima, discovered that some owners of the revoked lands in Maitama District were attempting to carry out development despite the revocation.
During the operation, the team, accompanied by security agents, confiscated building equipment, expelled workers, and detained some individuals for further investigation. Galadima revealed that his office received information regarding the owners returning to the sites, a direct violation of the revocation order. He emphasized that the administration would not tolerate such actions and would not only remove any structures but also prosecute those involved.
Responding to inquiries about legal action taken by affected property owners seeking redress, Galadima stated that he was unaware of any such court cases. Should any cases exist, he affirmed that the administration would review them once officially communicated. However, as of now, he had no knowledge of such legal proceedings.
The warning from the FCTA serves as a reminder to all landowners that the revocation order is in full force. Any attempts to continue development or tamper with the affected plots will not be tolerated. The administration is committed to upholding the terms of the Land Use Act and ensuring that justice is served for any violations. It remains to be seen what legal actions will be taken against those found guilty of tampering with the revoked land.
