According to recent reports, a family in Florida has been sentenced for selling bleach as a miracle COVID-19 cure. The father, Mark Grenon, and his three sons operated under the guise of a church and managed to sell over $1 million worth of the deadly bleach solution.
The family went to extreme lengths to avoid regulatory scrutiny by setting up a church called Genesis II Church of Health and Healing. They marketed their product, named Miracle Mineral Solution, as a cure for COVID-19, as well as other serious diseases like Alzheimer’s, diabetes, HIV-Aids, and leukemia.
However, the truth behind their product was far from miraculous. The solution was actually comprised of sodium chloride and water, which, when ingested, turned into chlorine dioxide—a powerful bleach commonly used for industrial water treatment or bleaching textiles.
Not only did the Grenons deceive vulnerable individuals who were desperately seeking a cure for life-threatening illnesses, but their product also posed a significant health risk. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) received reports of hospitalizations, life-threatening conditions, and even deaths associated with the ingestion of their miracle solution.
When authorities ordered the family to cease selling the product in 2020, they responded with threats of violence, stating that they were prepared to pick up guns to resist the authorities—a chilling reference to the deadly Waco siege carried out by federal authorities in 1993.
After being convicted by a jury, the Grenons have now been sentenced to several years in prison. Mark Grenon and his son Joseph were sentenced to five years for conspiring to defraud the government, while Jonathan Grenon and Jordan Grenon received sentences of twelve years and seven months for both defrauding the government and contempt of court.
This case highlights the dangers of fraudulent and unregulated products being marketed as COVID-19 cures. It serves as a stern reminder to the public to always exercise caution and rely on legitimate medical advice and treatments approved by reputable authorities. The FDA has repeatedly warned against using unauthorized treatments and substances, emphasizing the importance of relying on verifiable information from trusted sources during these challenging times.
In the pursuit of profits, the Grenons exploited the vulnerability and desperation of individuals suffering from life-threatening illnesses. Their actions not only endangered lives but also undermined public trust in legitimate healthcare providers and authorities. As the fight against COVID-19 continues, it is crucial for individuals to remain vigilant and only seek treatments and remedies that are scientifically proven and approved by medical professionals.
Let this case be a reminder that health and well-being should never be compromised for the sake of greed and deception. As the Grenons face the consequences of their actions, it serves as a cautionary tale against falling victim to false promises and unproven treatments in the midst of a global pandemic.
