BENGALURU: A man in Bengaluru was recently arrested for his involvement in drugging and robbing senior citizens. The 37-year-old suspect, identified as Karthik M Daulat, would befriend elderly individuals, engage them in conversation over tea, and gain their trust. However, he would then mix sleeping pills into the tea and steal their valuable possessions.
Karthik, a telecommunication engineering graduate residing in Rajajinagar, was apprehended by the Malleswaram police in connection with a robbery case. His accomplice, Manjushree K from Maragondanahalli near Horamavu, was also arrested. The police managed to recover 115 grams of gold ornaments from the duo, which were linked to three separate cases.
The investigation leading to their arrest began when 55-year-old Yadunath Gupta, owner of Gowri Condiments and Chats in Palace Guttahalli, filed a complaint. Gupta explained that after consuming tea, he fell unconscious in front of his shop on September 22. When he woke up, he discovered that his gold chain had been stolen.
Upon analyzing CCTV footage from the area, the police team, headed by Inspector Jagadish BR, identified Karthik as the main suspect.
