Mangaluru: Man Arrested for Voyeurism, Bajrang Dal Leader Denies Association
In a recent incident in Mangaluru, a youth has been apprehended by the Mulki police on charges of voyeurism. The accused, identified as Sumanth Poojary, aged 21, was found with a mobile phone positioned near the washroom ventilation, raising suspicions of illicit recording.
Upon discovering the phone at around 11:30 pm to 12 am on the night of October 2nd and 3rd, the complainant seized the device, uncovering an 18-second video. While the video appeared to contain nothing of particular significance, it was alleged that the suspect had intended to capture videos of other household members.
Following the complaint, a case has been registered against Sumanth Poojary under IPC Section 354 (C) and 66 E of the IT Act. After being produced before the court, he was remanded in judicial custody.
Contrary to misleading information circulating on social media, Bajrang Dal Mulki leader, Amit Shetty S Kodi, definitively stated that the arrested individual was not associated with the Bajrang Dal. Shetty clarified that a Bajrang Dal leader simply handed over the suspect to the police, emphasizing that the miscreants spreading false rumors were deliberately misrepresenting the facts.
The Karnataka Congress, on its Twitter account, shared a photo of the arrested man wearing a saffron shawl, questioning whether he had intended to send the video footage to the BJP office or specific politicians. The party called into question the awareness of the BJP office in regard to the incident and urged them to take appropriate action.
