Arrest Made: Buford High School Online Threat Suspect in Custody
Buford City Schools have announced that an arrest has been made in connection with an online threat directed at Buford High School. The suspect, identified as Michael Daniel Pecoits, allegedly made the threat on social media platform Snapchat, accompanied by a photo of an assault rifle in a case and the message Buford High School. Although the threat was made on Monday evening, the school system was not notified until after the incident. Amy Moody, Executive Secretary to the Superintendent’s Office, confirmed that Pecoits was apprehended on the Buford Middle School campus. The reason for his presence at the location has not been disclosed.
Following his arrest, Pecoits was booked into the Gwinnett County Jail. In response to the incident, all schools within the Buford City School System were placed on a soft lockdown as a precautionary safety measure.
