AMC has unveiled a teaser trailer for its upcoming action drama series Parish, starring Giancarlo Esposito. The show is set to premiere on AMC and AMC+ in 2024. Esposito, known for his roles in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, will not only star but also executive produce the series.
Parish follows the story of Gracian Gray Parish, played by Esposito, a family man and owner of a luxury car service in New Orleans. After his son is tragically murdered and his business crumbles, Gray’s encounter with an old friend from his days as a wheelman reignites his past life and leads him into a dangerous confrontation with a violent criminal syndicate.
Filmed on location in New Orleans, the ensemble cast of Parish includes Zachary Momoh, Paula Malcolmson, Skeet Ulrich, Bonnie Mbuili, Ivan Mbakop, Arica Himmel, and Dax Rey. Bradley Whitford stars in a recurring role as Anton, while Amanda Brugel guest stars as Sister Anne.
The series is based on the UK show The Driver created by Danny Brocklehurst and Jim Poyser. Produced by AMC Studios in collaboration with A+E Studios and Thruline Entertainment, the adaptation is co-created and executive produced by Brocklehurst. Showrunners and executive producers are Eduardo Canto and Ryan Maldonado. Additional executive producers include Poyser, Jolyon Symonds, and David Morrissey for Scribbler Films, Josh Kesselman, Danny Sherman, Barry Jossen, Tana Jamieson, Theo Travers, and Nicola Shindler from Red Production.
In other news, Bravo has launched a new podcast called Bravo’s Hot Mic, hosted by Alex Baskin, the executive producer of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The podcast delves into iconic moments from Bravo programming. Baskin, known for his work on shows like Vanderpump Rules and The Real Housewives, will analyze and discuss these moments with Bravo talent and producers, going beyond the scope of social media conversations. The podcast’s first episode features Kyle Richards from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, followed by Tamra Judge from The Real Housewives of Orange County in the second episode. The podcast is available with a subscription fee of $3.99 per month.
Additionally, CBS will broadcast The 46th Annual Kennedy Center Honors on December 27. The event, celebrating artists who have made significant contributions to American culture, will also be available for streaming on Paramount+. This year’s honorees include comedian Billy Crystal, soprano Renée Fleming, singer-songwriter Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees, television host and singer Dionne Warwick, and actor, rapper, and singer Queen Latifah. The special will also commemorate the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, with former honoree Gloria Estefan serving as the host. Produced by Done+Dusted in collaboration with ROK Productions, the taping will take place on December 3 at the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, D.C.
Furthermore, Larry Wilmore will host the 2023 Sentinel Awards by Hollywood, Health and Society.
