A 9-year-old girl named Charlotte Sena has gone missing after a bike ride at a campsite in Upstate New York. More than 100 people, including family members, friends, and authorities, are currently searching for her. Charlotte was reportedly camping with her family at Moreau Lake State Park when she went on a bike ride with friends. After biking together for a while, Charlotte expressed her desire to go for another ride alone. However, when she didn’t return after approximately 15 minutes, her parents grew concerned and immediately began searching for her. The incident took place around 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, and her bike was discovered abandoned in one of the park’s loops at around 6:45 p.m. Her mother promptly contacted the authorities to report her missing.
In response to the situation, an AMBER alert was issued on Sunday morning. The authorities have been conducting an extensive search for Charlotte for over 18 hours, utilizing aviation and underwater rescue teams, bloodhounds, drones, and technology experts to analyze communication within the park during that time. The Schenectady Fire Department, of which Charlotte’s uncle is a member, is also assisting in the search efforts. The search has focused on every nook and cranny of the park, and the authorities are urging anyone with information to contact 911.
Described as a fourth-grade student who was recently elected as a class officer for student council, Charlotte’s disappearance has deeply affected her family, friends, and the community. Governor Kathy Hochul expressed her hope for a safe reunion and urged anyone who may have seen or heard anything to come forward.
Moreau Lake State Park, situated in Saratoga County, covers over 4,600 acres of scenic surroundings. As investigations continue, the park has been closed until further notice.
