Five impaired drivers were apprehended by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Prince Edward Island (PEI) over the weekend, resulting in a series of single vehicle crashes and hospitalizations. Two individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries and required medical treatment as a result of these incidents.
On Friday, November 10, 2023, at approximately 12:50 pm, the RCMP in Stratford responded to a report of a vehicle driving over curbs and a stop sign near a local business. Subsequently, a 68-year-old woman was arrested for impaired driving. Thankfully, no one was injured during this incident.
Later that day, at around 3:00 pm, the Kings District RCMP attended the scene of a single vehicle roll-over crash in Murray Harbour. A 46-year-old man was arrested for impaired driving in connection with this incident. Two individuals involved in the crash were taken to the hospital due to non-life-threatening injuries.
In another offense reported at 10:27 pm in Kings District, the RCMP received a complaint regarding an impaired driver. As a result, a 22-year-old man was apprehended while driving in Montague.
The following day, on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at approximately 11:25 pm, the Queens District RCMP responded to a single vehicle crash in South Winsloe. A 19-year-old man was arrested at the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in relation to this crash.
Just five minutes later, at 11:30 pm, the Kings District RCMP attended the scene of another single vehicle crash, this time in Fortune Bridge. Investigation of the incident led to the arrest of a youth for impaired driving. No one was injured in this particular case.
All individuals who were arrested are expected to appear in court at a later date to face impaired driving charges.
